Banquet Given for Chinese FM and His Party

Pyongyang, March 23 (KCNA) -- The DPRK government arranged a banquet in honor of the visiting Chinese foreign minister and his party this evening.
Present at the banquet on invitation were Li Zhaoxing, foreign minister of China, and his party, Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of the embassy.
Present there were DPRK Minister of Foreign Affairs Paek Nam Sun, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Yong Il and other officials concerned.
Paek Nam Sun made a speech.
He said that the DPRK visit of the Chinese foreign minister and his party marks an important occasion in accelerating the development of the blood-sealed DPRK-China friendly relations at a new stage.
Saying that it is the unshakable stand of the WPK and the people of the DPRK to steadily strengthen and develop the DPRK-China friendship, he added this conforms with the interests of the two peoples and their efforts to defend global peace and security.
He expressed conviction that their visit to the DPRK would offer an opportunity of developing the traditional DPRK-China friendly and cooperative relations.
The Korean people will in the future, too, make efforts to boost the DPRK-China friendship, true to the intention of the leaders of the two countries, he stressed.
The Chinese foreign minister spoke next.
He said that the blood-sealed Sino-Korean friendship has a very long history and has been carried forward and developed generation after generation.
It is our duty to strengthen and develop these traditional friendly and cooperative relations at a new higher stage, he added.
He noted that the Chinese people greatly rejoice over the big successes achieved by the fraternal Korean people in the socialist construction under the leadership of the WPK headed by its General Secretary Kim Jong Il and warmly congratulate them on these achievements.
This year we will mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, he said, noting that the bilateral friendly relations have steadily grown stronger despite the very complicated international situation.
The Chinese people together with the Korean people will boost the Sino-Korean friendly and cooperative relations and thus contribute to peace and stability in the region and the human cause of peace, he stressed.
