South Korean Authorities' Security Strategy under Fire
Korean Central News Agency of DPRK
Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- The south Korean authorities in their "four-point basic security policy strategy" released recently declared the confrontation with the north as their policy contrary to the era of independence and reunification. Rodong Sinmun today says this in a signed commentary. It goes on:
All the fellow countrymen wish to go in for reconciliation and reunification hand in hand, not distrust and confrontation between the north and the south. While talking about "reconciliation and cooperation," the south Korean authorities called for playing a "major role in deterring the north." By doing so, they declared the confrontation with their fellow countrymen in the north, their dialogue partner, as their policy.
@Their talk about "deterring the north" is, in fact, little short of a subterfuge of the United States to stifle the DPRK by force of arms.
Only when the north and the south join their efforts in the basic spirit of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, can they reject foreign forces for aggression and steadily push forward the already started process of reconciliation and the cause of reunification.
@Such behavior of the south Korean authorities goes to prove that they lack such spirit of national independence and will for reconciliation and reunification.
@Pursuing cooperation with the U.S., while shunning national cooperation, is as foolish an act as bringing the clouds of a war to hang over this land, not peace.
@The south side's act of betraying the nation, going against the era of independence and reunification is bound to be rebuffed and condemned by all the fellow countrymen.
If the south side wishes to implement the joint declaration and see the reconciliation between the north and south and national reunification, it should not advocate such provocative policy of confrontation with the north but demand the U.S. withdraw its forces from south Korea and show in practice its will for independence and the improvement of the inter-Korean relations.
