Meeting of Presidium of North Headquarters of Pomminryon Held

Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- A meeting of the Presidium of the North Headquarters of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification (Pomminryon) was held at the People's Palace of Culture yesterday.
Present at the meeting were members of the Presidium of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon and members of its Central Committee.
The meeting discussed its agenda item "On thoroughly implementing the tasks for national reunification set forth in the joint editorial of this year and at the joint meeting of the government, political parties and organizations of the DPRK".
An Kyong Ho, chairman of the North Headquarters of Pomminryon, made a report which was followed by speeches.
The meeting recalled that the North Headquarters of Pomminryon intensified the work with the organizations of all social standings in the south and overseas and conducted a vigorous movement for national reunification last year after fixing it as a "year of defending independence and peace through national cooperation".
The meeting called for paving a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the uplifted banner of our nation-first spirit as required by the present situation, taking note of the situation in the country which has become tenser due to the U.S. and reactionaries at home and abroad, its followers.
Noting that the anti-U.S. struggle is a life and death struggle decisive of the dignity and destiny of the Korean nation, the meeting called on all the Korean people to make an active contribution to building the structure of the Korean nation's confrontation with the U.S. through practical actions.
It underlined the need to steadily improve the work of Pomminryon in keeping with the situation prevailing in Korea after the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and intensify the struggle to realize the legalization of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils.
A resolution was adopted at the meeting.
