Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA UNit

Pyongyang, February 12 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and
chairman of the National Defence Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, inspected KPA Unit 162 honored with the title of Kum Song Lifeguard.
After receiving a salute, he went round a room devoted to the unit's history, conducted by its commander.
Recalling with deep emotion the proud militant path covered by the unit, he highly praised its officers and men for having achieved many successes in the defence of the country and socialist construction in the past. He congratulated them on having won one victory after another with arms of Songun in hands by carrying forward the glorious tradition of the unit.
After seeing the training of the soldiers of the unit, he advanced highly important tasks which would serve as guidelines in increasing the combat power of the unit in every way, greatly satisfied to learn that all the soldiers have grown to be combatants fully prepared politically, ideologically and physically and in military technique, who are capable enough to defeat any formidable enemy at one blow and firmly defend the socialist homeland.
He dropped in at a comprehensive military lecture room to inspect a lecture given for commanding officers. He was very pleased to see commanding officers being prepared as competent officers equipped with high operation commanding ability by devoting all their wisdom and enthusiasm to the training after building excellent lecture rooms in order to successfully carry out the Juche-oriented military strategy of the WPK.
He acquainted himself in detail with the political and ideological work conducted among the soldiers and the management of the unit, going round a servicemen's hall, a library, the compound of the barracks, a nursery and other places.
The next leg of his inspection was a company under the unit.
Going round an education room, a lecture room, a bedroom, a mess, a kitchen, a washroom, a daily provision store and other entertainment and logistic facilities, he noted with great satisfaction that they have been spruced up in such a way as to make every visitor to the company feel refreshed.
He gave the soldiers of the company a pair of binoculars, an automatic rifle and apparatuses for entertainment as gifts, expressing great expectation and conviction that they would perform proud feats at the posts for defending the country. Then he had a photo session with the officers and men of the unit.
He was accompanied by KPA Generals Ri Myong Su and Hyon Chol Hae, and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.
