KCNA Urges U.S. to Stop Bolstering Its Military Hardware in S. Korea

KCNA

Pyongyang, February 11 (KCNA) -- The United States keep bolstering and updating the military hardware of its troops stationed in south Korea. Dozens of high-tech "M1-A1 Abrams" tanks will reportedly arrive at the U.S. Second Infantry Division in south Korea to replace its old ones.
The U.S. projected massive introduction of sophisticated weapons including latest tanks tested in the Iraqi war to south Korea indicates that the U.S. military move to mount a preemptive attack on the DPRK is reaching a very adventurous phase.
It is massively deploying up-to-date military hardware in strategic points including the areas along the Military Demarcation Line at a time when the six-way talks for the settlement of the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. are high on the agenda. This cannot but be a challenge to the dialogue partner.
This clearly proves that the U.S. is keen to stifle the DPRK by a preemptive attack, not seeking a negotiated solution to the nuclear issue.
Judging from the fact that the U.S. bellicose military circle advocated the formation of sufficient armed forces at the shortest possible time one can guess that the U.S. basic policy toward the DPRK is not a carrot strategy but a stick strategy based on the logic of strength.
The U.S. reckless moves to beef up the armed forces are intolerable as they are grave political and military moves to threaten peace and stability in the Korean peninsula and the rest of the Asia-Pacific region and increase the danger of a new war.
The U.S. is well advised to drop a foolish ambition to bring the DPRK to its knees by force of arms and ponder over the consequences to be entailed by its deployment of the latest military hardware in south Korea.
