DPRK denies testing chemical weapons on prisoners

PYONGYANG, Feb. 5 (Xinhuanet) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) Thursday denied a BBC report alleging that the DPRK has tested chemical weapons on prisoners, condemning it as "slanted propaganda from the United States".
A BBC TV documentary on Sunday included comments from a former DPRK intelligence agent and prison official who said he witnessed prisoners being executed in a gas chamber while scientists monitored the process.
The US is "spreading a sheer lie", the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) quoted a Foreign Ministry spokesman as saying on Thursday.
"It's a trite method for the present US administration to invent lies and justify a war of aggression under that pretext," he added.
"The Bush group is working hard to get rid of a difficult situation by leading the situation on the Korean peninsula to an extreme pitch of tension under the pretext of the nuclear issue," the spokesman said.
