Kim Jong Il Inspects KPA Unit

Pyongyang, January 29 (KCNA) -- Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army Kim Jong Il, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, inspected KPA Unit No. 844.
He was briefed on the history of the unit, seeing the records of feats showing the proud path of victory and glory covered by the unit.
He heard a report on the situation from its commander before learning in detail about the unit's performance of its duty.
He set forth important tasks which would serve as guidelines in further increasing the unit's combat capability, greatly satisfied to see the officers and men of the unit reliably guarding the defense line of the country, fully armed with the Juche-oriented combat methods of the WPK through intensive combat and political training.
He took warm care of the service and living of the soldiers, looking round servicemen's hall, education room, bedroom, mess hall, kitchen, washroom, subsidiary food store, outdoor resting place, comprehensive service facility and other places.
He called on the whole society to earnestly learn from the revolutionary spirit of devotedly implementing the Party policies displayed by the KPA, noting that all its units could bring about a signal turn in the management of units by displaying the revolutionary traits of wholeheartedly accepting its policies and carrying them out in time.
He spared time to watch an art performance given by soldiers of a company of the unit.
He had a photo session with servicepersons of the unit, expressing the conviction that they would accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche under the banner of Songun.
He was accompanied by Yon Hyong Muk, vice-chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission, KPA Generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong and Ri Yong Chol, member of the Central Military Commission of the WPK and first vice department director of its Central Committee.
