Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The Korean people are registering big successes in the efforts to carry out tasks set forth in the joint New Year editorial.
The workers of the Chollima Steel Complex are turning out large quantities of steel by raising the operation rate of converters from the outset of the year. On January 1, they raised the steel production 1.5 times the daily average figure of last year by increasing the number of teemings while considerably reducing the electricity consumption per ton.
The electricity producers of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex are carrying out their daily quotas at 116 percent.
The Sinchang Youth and other coal mines have introduced advanced cutting method into production. As a result, they are overfulfilling their daily assignments by more than 50 percent.
The workers in the field of railway transport including the Pyongyang Railway Bureau are transporting more freight than their plans with a bold and ambitious operation.
Signal successes are also reported from the forestry sector including the Chonma Forestry Station.
The workers in the field of light industry including the Pyongyang Textile Mill and the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory have boosted the production of consumer goods from the beginning of the year by making an effective use of the existing production foundation and pushing ahead with technical modernization.
Scientists are now intensifying researches with a goal of putting the nation's IT, nanotechnology and bioengineering on the world level as early as possible.
