Slogan for Reunification Movement Supported
KCNA
Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- People from all walks of life in the DPRK are fully supporting the slogan for this year's reunification movement set forth by the joint New Year editorial.
The editorial called upon all the fellow countrymen to bring about a turning phase in the reunification movement this year under the slogan "Let us pave a wide avenue for independent reunification through national cooperation under the banner of our nation-first spirit!"
Paek Ryong Chon, department director of the Secretariat of the Cabinet, said that the call was a just and patriotic initiative.
He noted that the 70 million Koreans should take practical actions to cope with the nation's confrontation with the U.S. in the Korean nation-first spirit in order to foil the U.S. policy to stifle the DPRK and its moves for a new war.
Kim Thaek Bong, department director of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, said that the Koreans have grasped the philosophical truth that national cooperation is the only way for the nation to survive and achieve reunification in the last more than three years that witnessed signal events in the movement for the independent reunification.
Kim Ryong Gang, vice-minister of Railways, said that last year saw such a national event of historic significance as reconnecting rail and road links between the north and the south for the first time in the more than half century-long history of division.
He underscored the need for the Koreans to fully realize inter-Korean economic cooperation in the Korean nation-first spirit and steadily boost national cooperation this year.
Ri Chung Bok, vice director of the Secretariat of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, said there would be no problem in achieving reunification if the Koreans pool efforts with pride and self-confidence that the Korean nation is the best. He expressed his determination to organize diverse work for national reconciliation and unity between the north and the south and reunification under the banner of the Korean nation-first spirit this year, too, and thus put powerful spurs to the movement for national reunification.
