KCNA Assails U.S. "Logic of Strength"

KCNA

Pyongyang, January 7 (KCNA) -- The joint New Year editorial of the Party, the army and the youth league of the DPRK called for exerting utmost efforts to strengthen the front of anti-imperialism and military affairs this year. The situation on the Korean peninsula has reached a grave phase due to the Bush administration's extremely hostile policy towards the DPRK.
It is important to settle the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. peacefully through dialogue in order to ease the tension and ensure peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.
The DPRK has already put forward an innovative proposal on a package solution to the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. on the principle of simultaneous actions at the six-way talks.
This is a realistic, just and fair proposal as it takes into account the background against which the nuclear issue between the DPRK and the U.S. surfaced and the present situation.
It is well known that the nuclear issue was a product of the U.S. hostile policy towards the DPRK and its nuclear threat and it has further deteriorated since the emergence of the Bush administration.
Had the Bush administration abandoned its hostile policy towards the DPRK and not singled out it as part of an "axis of evil," a target of its preemptive nuclear attack, the nuclear issue would have not reached such a serious phase.
Consistent is the DPRK's principled stand to seek a negotiated peaceful solution to the nuclear issue.
The U.S. administration should respond to this magnanimity in good faith.
Nevertheless, the U.S. is stepping up the preparations for a new war, massively shipping into south Korea high-tech weapons mainly including the weapons tested in the Iraqi and Afghan wars.
The U.S. is grossly mistaken if it thinks it can bring the DPRK to its knees with a military threat as it did to other countries.
The DPRK will always react with the toughest policy to the U.S. hardline policy of totally denying and threatening the dignified idea and system of its own style.
This is a legitimate option for self-defence as it is aimed to defend the nation's sovereignty and right to existence and ensure peace and stability on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
The DPRK will further strengthen the front of anti-imperialism and military affairs to cope with the U.S. escalated threat and react to the U.S. "logic of strength" with strength.
