    Pyongyang, May 26 (KCNA) -- "Let Us Decisively Smash the U.S. Imperialists' Reckless Nuclear Racket and Moves for the Provocation of a New War with the Concerted Efforts of All the Fellow Countrymen Upholding the Slogan of Anti-U.S. Independence," one of the calls of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea issued on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK, is a very just and realistic militant slogan that conforms with the requirements of the prevailing situation and the desire of our nation, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. Referring to the fact that the U.S. is seeking to achieve its criminal purpose with the policy of strength, aggravating confrontation and tension between the north and the south, the paper says: the prevailing situation requires the whole nation to smash the U.S. imperialists' moves against the DPRK with its concerted efforts under the slogan of anti-U.S. independence.
    It goes on:
    The U.S. is intensifying blackmail on the DPRK, building up public opinion in a bid to isolate it politically. Lurking behind it is an ulterior intention to block the unity of the north and the south and justify a war of aggression on the north by convincing the international community that the north is a "nuclear criminal".
    The whole nation should unite close under the banner of "by our nation itself" as specified in the June 15 Joint Declaration.
    It is clear that confrontation on the Korean Peninsula comes between the whole Korean nation and the U.S. that is why all the fellow countrymen should conduct a vigorous anti-U.S., anti-war and peace drive to frustrate the U.S. imperialists' frantic nuclear racket and moves for the provocation of a new war with the firm independent stand that our nation should pool mind and efforts by itself and keep step with each other however hard the U.S. may threaten.
    The whole nation in the north, the south and abroad should decisively smash the U.S. imperialists' reckless nuclear racket and moves for the provocation of a new war and speed up independent reunification with its concerted efforts, keeping in mind that anti-U.S. independence is the only way out of our nation and guarantees independent reunification.
