Kim Jong Il made public immortal works "Let Us Carry Out the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung's Instructions for National Reunification" and "Let Us Reunify the Country Independently and Peacefully through the Great Unity of the Entire Nation", indicating the way of solving the reunification issue.
He formulated the three principles of national reunification, the 10-point programme for the great unity of the entire nation and the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo set forth by the president as three charters of national reunification and advanced the five-point policy for the great national unity.
