U.S. wrong assertion rejected

KCNA

Pyongyang, May 13 (KCNA) -- The United States still insists that "nuclear program should be scrapped before dialogue", while repeating a wrong assertion that it would be a "reward for bad behavior" to renounce its hostile policy towards the DPRK. It is nothing but a revelation of the black-hearted intention of the U.S. which does not want a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula, says Minju Joson today in a commentary.
The U.S. persistent hostile policy towards the DPRK is a main obstacle in the way of solving the outstanding issues, including the nuclear issue, and ensuring peace on the Korean Peninsula, the commentary points out, and goes on:
That policy, consistently pursued by the U.S. in the Cold War era and even after it, is, in essence, intended to stifle the DPRK by force. But it is anachronistic and will not do the U.S. good either.
The U.S. renunciation of such policy is essential for ensuring peace and security in the Korean Peninsula and will meet the common interests not only of the north and the south of the peninsula but of its neighboring countries.
It can never be a "reward" to the DPRK but will be an action that should have been taken long ago.
Whenever an opportunity presented itself, the U.S. has called for a peaceful solution to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. If it is its true intention, now is the time for the U.S. to show it in practice. The U.S. should immediately give up its hostile policy towards the DPRK and opt for solving the pending issues between the two countries, including the nuclear issue.
