Rodong Sinmun on victory of Soviet Union in great patriotic war

Pyongyang, May 9 (KCNA) -- The Korean people extend warm congratulations and greetings to the Russian people on the 58th anniversary of the victory of the soviet union in the great patriotic war, say papers here today.
Rodong Sinmun says in a signed article that the existence, development, dignity and honor of Russia are historically linked with the brilliant victory of the former soviet union.
The lesson of the war teaches that there should be only powerful might in order to win a victory of justice over injustice and a victory of peace over war, the paper notes, and goes on:
A long time has passed since the war between the soviet union and Germany. But the old imperialist forces still remain in the world and the danger of aggression and war has not been removed. The imperialists are committing an armed invasion of sovereign states without hesitation under the pretext of anti-terrorism and dismantlement of mass destruction weapons.
The present situation requires the world people to have a powerful military deterrent force in order to prevent war and defend the security of a country. The Russian government and people are giving importance to military affair and strengthening military forces.
The DPRK-Russia friendship is daily consolidating in the new century after Kim Jong Il's visits to Russia and the far eastern region of Russia and meetings and talks between the top leaders of the two countries.
