WPK Central Committee calls issued

Pyongyang, April 21 (KCNA) -- The Central Committee and the Central Military Commission of the Workers' Party of Korea issued calls on April 9 in the run-up to the 55th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Papers here today carry the fall text of the calls.
The calls stress that the 55th founding anniversary of the DPRK will mark an important occasion to glorify the undying feats President Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, performed in the state building and a grand political festival to demonstrate the invincible might of the country where the singlehearted unity with the headquarters of the revolution has been achieved and the people cast in their lot with socialism.
President Kim Il Sung is the eternal sun of Juche who triumphantly led the people's cause of independence, the patriotic cause of socialism, and thus performed immortal exploits to shine for all ages, the calls say, and underscore the need to hold him in high esteem for all ages, more thoroughly imbue the servicepersons and people with his revolutionary idea and glorify his revolutionary history and undying feats forever.
Kim Jong Il is the great leader who has steered the times, the revolution, the country and the people to victory, the calls say, and stress the need to hold him in high esteem forever and remain true to his idea and guidance to the last.
The single-hearted unity is the weapon of the Korean revolution more powerful than nuclear weapons, the calls say, and stress the need to devotedly protect the headquarters of the revolution headed by Kim Jong Il and strengthen the single-hearted of the party, the army and the people with him at the core.
The calls also stress the need to resolutely defend the socialist homeland of Juche and glorify it forever, preserve the Juche character and national character and adhere to the principles of socialism in all domains of the state activities and uphold his Songun policy with one mind and one will.
The calls say that the WPK is the heart of the society and its guidance is the lifeline of the revolution and construction, and underscore the need to build the WPK into elite ranks which breathe and act in accordance with his idea and will.
The calls stress the need to bring about a radical improvement in ideological work to meet the requirements of the revolutionary era of Songun policy, imbue the whole society with the revolutionary Songun idea and give full display to the Korean nation-first spirit.
Underscoring the need to build up the class position of socialism in the DPRK in keeping with the demands of the tense situation, the calls say:
Let us have transparent class consciousness against imperialism and the U.S. and foil the anti-DPRK, anti-socialist campaign of the U.S. imperialists.
Let us force Japan to pay for the past crimes of its imperialists as they inflicted immeasurable sufferings and pain upon our people and decisively smash the design of the Japanese reactionaries to reinvade our republic.
Let us strictly adhere to the revolutionary principle, class principle, in any circumstances with a high class judgment the calls say that the matchless military muscle is the national power to which the DPRK should give top priority and it provides a sure guarantee for the prosperity of the country.
The calls lay a particular stress on the full application of the party's idea of attaching importance to the military affairs in all domains of the revolution and construction.
The calls further say:
Let us increase in every way the nation's defence capabilities on the principle of giving priority to the military affairs. Let us build the people's army into the army of the party, the army of the leader and the army of the great comrade Kim Jong Il let the whole army become today's seventh regiment of devotedly defending the headquarters of the revolution.
Let us devotedly fight for the respected supreme commander comrade Kim Jong Il.
All the officers and men of the People's Army, fully imbue yourselves with the Juche-based viewpoint on war and always keep yourselves fully ready.
Let us build up the People's Army as an invincible army, guided by the party's policy of turning the entire army into an army of cadres and modernizing the entire army. Let the entire army establish the revolutionary spirit of training to make all the servicepersons a-match-for-a hundred combatants.
Let us effect a new turn in making combat preparations of the People's Army and increasing its combat power this year, the 50th anniversary of victory in the war.
It is the fixed stand and militant quality of our People's Army to answer any provocations of the enemies with stern punishment, their war of aggression with a revolutionary war.
If the enemies invade our inviolable sky, land and seas even an inch, destroy the aggressors with a merciless annihilating strike.
All the servicepersons, prove the true merits of the revolutionary strong army of Mt Paektu to the U.S. imperialist aggressors keen to provoke a new war.
Stressing the need to thoroughly establish the trait of attaching importance to the army and military affairs throughout the society, the calls appeal to all the people to increase the production of Korean-type modern arms and combat and technical equipment for the People's Army and love the army and earnestly learn military affairs while giving full play to the might of the all-people and nationwide defence system.
The members of the worker-peasant red guards and the young red guards are called upon to be fully ready to repel any surprise attack of enemies.
All the families of the country are called upon to become families of servicemen and those of revolutionary soldiers and everybody is urged to glorify his youth through service in the army.
All the people are urged to earnestly learn from the noble ideological and moral trait of the people's army in order to achieve the perfect unity of the people and army in thinking and militant trait.
The calls stress the need to strictly abide by the principle of collectivism in all fields of state and social life and thereby give full play to the advantages of the socialist system in the DPRK.
The calls appeal to all to greet the 55th anniversary of the DPRK with proud successes in the building of an economic power.
Among the calls are: Let us bring about a new surge in all fields of socialist economic construction by waging a tenacious charge in the same spirit as was displayed during the "arduous march" in the 1990s.
Let us smash the imperialists' moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK in the spirit of annihilating the enemies by effecting a fresh revolutionary upswing.
Let us implement to the letter the line of socialist economic construction in the era of the songun policy on giving priority to the national defence industry.
The calls stress the need to concentrate efforts on the development of power, coal and metal industries and railway transport and effect a mass innovation in machine-building, chemical and building-material industries and forestry, thus greatly contributing to the building of an economic power.
Underlining the need to bring about a new turn in agricultural production this year, they call for solving the food problem as early as possible by thoroughly implementing the party's policies on bringing about a radical turn in seed selection, potato farming and double-cropping.
The calls stress the need to radically boost the production of primary consumer goods for the people.
Calls underscore the need to build Pyongyang into a more magnificent city to meet the need of the new century, energetically carry out the land realignment in Pyongyang, South Phyongan Province and Nampho city and accelerate the Paekma-Cholsan Waterway project through a nationwide drive.
They also stress the need to thoroughly establish cultured practices in production and life as befitting a highly civilized people building a great prosperous power.
There are also calls underlining the necessity to manage and operate the economy in such a way as to ensure the greatest profitability, while firmly abiding by the socialist principle.

Let us demonstrate the honour and might of socialist Korea to the whole world with science and technology. Let us rapidly develop ultra-modern science and technology as required by the it age and put the country's science and technology on the world's advanced level. Let us speed up the building of an economic power in the spirit of self-reliance on the basis of the latest science and technology calls point to the need to successfully implement the party's Juche-oriented line of cultural construction and thus develop socialist culture suited to the appearance of a great prosperous power.
They underline the need to train a large number of brilliant intellectuals including computer genius and produce more masterpieces in the era of the Songun policy.
The journalists and other men of the press are called upon to become ideological standard-bearers firmly protecting the ideology, system and cause of the DPRK with pens of revolution.
There are calls underlining the need to preserve the cultural heritages of the nation with good care and carry forward and develop the excellent national tradition.
Calls lay stress on combating imperialists' ideological and cultural poisoning and firmly preserving our ideology, morality and our own noble socialist way of life.
All the fields and units are called upon to implement the party's policies to the letter, learning from the spirit of bold offensive of the People's Army and its spirit of self-reliance.
Party members, are called upon to become vanguard fighters devotedly defending and loyally upholding Kim Jong Il on the first line to bring about a great revolutionary surge and make a breakthrough in the present general onward movement.
The young people are called upon to fully display the heroic stamina of the Korean youth in the era of the Songun policy in defending the country and building a great prosperous power.
On the issue of national reunification, the calls say that it is important to successfully carry out Kim Il Sung's last instructions for national reunification under the guidance of Kim Jong Il, a peerless patriot.
The calls further say:
Let us achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country at an early date, upholding the three charters for national reunification.
Let us make this year, the 55th birthday of the DPRK, a year of a decisive turn in the cause of reunifying the country under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
Let us accelerate the independent reunification by the united efforts of our nation.
Let us frustrate the U.S. imperialists' moves to obstruct national reconciliation, unity and cooperation and open up a new phase for the reunification of the country through national cooperation.
The calls stress that it is urgent to decisively smash the U.S. imperialists' reckless nuclear racket and moves for the provocation of a new war and drive their aggression troops out of South Korea.
They also underline the need to closely unite with all peoples the world over advocating independence in the idea of independence, peace and friendship.
It is necessary to reject the imperialists' domination, realize the democratization of the international community and decisively foil the moves of the imperialists for "globalization", the calls note, and go on:
Let us decisively smash the high-handed and arbitrary practices and unilateralism of the U.S. imperialists who are arrogantly working to gratify their ambition for world supremacy.
Let us vigorously struggle to defend global peace and security from the aggression and war moves of the U.S. imperialists.
Let us develop the friendship and cooperation with people of all countries on the principle of independence, equality and mutual benefits.
Let us build an independent, peaceful and friendly, new world in firm solidarity with all the progressive forces of the world.
All the party members, servicemen and other people should unite closer around leader Kim Jong Il and work hard for prosperity and development of the DPRK and the accomplishment of the socialist cause of Juche, thus adorning this significant year as a year of a new leaping advance in the building of a great prosperous power and a year of most brilliant victory in the history of the motherland, the calls say.
