Anti-U.S., anti-war peace campaign urged

KCNA

Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Reconciliation Council released a statement on Sunday, calling upon the fellow countrymen in the north and the south of Korea and overseas to more vigorously turn out in the anti-U.S., anti-war peace movement to prevent the danger of war facing the nation and defend the peace of the country and the security of the nation. Noting that groundlessly provoking the north under the pretext of the U.S. start of Iraqi war, the South Korean authorities declared a "high alert posture" dubbed DRC-2, which can be issued only on the eve of a war, the statement branded it as a premeditated provocation to incite confrontation and distrust among the fellow countrymen and put the brake on the north-south relations favorably developing toward reconciliation and reunification.
They have been staging reckless war exercises against the fellow countrymen with the vast U.S. Armed Forces. Not content with it, they are now driving the situation to extremes under the unreasonable pretexts. This is a challenge to the aspiration and desire of the entire nation, the statement said, adding:
The South Korean authorities should be held wholly responsible for the grave consequences that their behavior will bring to the north-south relations.
