North-targeted war exercises condemned

Pyongyang, March 17 (KCNA) -- The struggle against the South Korea-U.S. joint military exercises is going into high gear in Pusan, South Korea, according to a news report.
Members of civic and public organizations in Pusan met at wharf no. 8 for exclusive use of the U.S. Forces at Pusan port on March 14 to protest against the port call of carrier Carl Vinson, which is to participate in the joint military exercises.
So Sang Gwon, chairman of the Pusan and South Kyongsang Provincial Federation of the National Alliance for the Country's Reunification, and four other representatives delivered a letter of protest over to the U.S. unit, breaking through the police cordon.
At least 120 reservists, members of the Pusan Regional Solidarity of Youth and Students for the Implementation of the June 15 South-North Joint Declaration, held a ceremony for declaring a refusal to the war exercises in front of Tae Hwa Department Store in Pusan on the evening of March 13.
At the end of the ceremony they conducted information activity among citizens and a signature campaign for demanding the conclusion of a North Korea-U.S. non-aggression treaty.
Meanwhile, the Pusan Council on Situation for Revision of the Unequal South Korea-U.S. Status of Forces Agreement and the Pusan Reunification Solidarity announced that they would hold a Pusan rally on the international day of anti-war action and continue various forms of struggle against the war exercises.
