Invariable countermeasure

KCNA

Pyongyang, March 7 (KCNA) -- The United States and its allies are trying to intensify international pressure on the Democratic People's Republic of Korea over the "nuclear issue". The United States intends to start a war on the Korean Peninsula, spreading groundless rumors that the DPRK is resorting to the "brinkmanship" and "threatening and blackmailing" the U.S. to get a concession from it.
It is the DPRK's invariable mode of countermeasure to answer the enemies' tough policy with a tougher stance.
It is illustrated well by the U.S. spy ship "Pueblo" incident in the late 1960s.
At that time, the United States attempted to bring the DPRK to its knees with reckless military threat, alleging that the ship was on the open sea when it was caught and it did nothing for reconnaissance.
Yielding to the DPRK's tough position that it would meet "retaliation" with retaliation, and a total war with a total war, however, the United States could not but admit the ship's reconnaissance mission and made an apology, promising to let no warship infiltrate into the DPRK's territorial waters in the future.
When the Korean Peninsula was faced with an unprecedented nuclear crisis in March Juche 82 (1993) due to the U.S. nuclear racket, the DPRK government declared a state of semi-war in the country and took a momentous step to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
As a result, the United States had no other choice but to sign the DPRK-U.S. Agreed Framework in October next year.
The DPRK's victory in the nuclear confrontation with the United States has demonstrated the might, justness and vitality of the independent and tough countermeasures guaranteed by its strong defence power.
If the DPRK is free from the U.S. threat, the Korean people can live well off without others' help.
The Korean people have the socialist system based on a single hearted unity, chosen and built by themselves, and solid economic foundations they have laid for decades.
Korea's is not a system which may be disintegrated or collapse by temporary difficulties.
Now the international community is urging the united states to rewrite the Korea policy immediately, mindful of the historical lessons.
