Implementation of June 15 North-South Joint Declaration called for

Pyongyang, February 27 (KCNA) -- The historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, a declaration for national independence and the great unity of the Korean nation, provides a sure guarantee for tiding over the prevailing grave situation, defending the sovereignty of the country and the security of the nation and promoting the process of reconciliation and reunification, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
The spirit of national independence is the kernel of the joint declaration, it says, and goes on:
Unity is a source of strength and guarantees victory.
The Korean nation has already grasped this truth in the course of the nationwide reunification movement to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country in the idea of "By Our Nation Itself." No ferocious aggressor will dare to hurt the Korean nation when all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas put the common interests of the nation above all and subordinate everything to it and unite as close as one in the spirit of national independence and patriotism.
The compatriots from all walks of life in the north, south and overseas should bravely take the road of patriotism to preserve and implement the June 15 Joint Declaration with the transparent spirit of the nation and patriotic will to bring earlier the independent and peaceful reunification of the country by the concerted efforts of the nation no matter how the situation and atmosphere may change and no matter what others may say.
Differing political view, religious belief, class and social strata can in no way be a stumbling block on the road of patriotism to defend the peace of the country and the security of the nation.
The fellow countrymen should face up to the present situation where the destiny of the nation is now exposed to a serious threat and take the road of national unity without hesitation.
The U.S. arrogant and provocative attempt to launch a war of aggression against the DPRK is bound to go busted when all the Koreans in the north, south and overseas struggle in unity under the uplifted banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
