Experimental excursion made for overland tour of Mt. Kumgang
Mt. Kumgang, February 5 (KCNA) -- An experimental excursion for overland tour of Mt. Kumgang was made on Wednesday after the completion of the temporary road on the east coast of Korea as part of the project to reconnect rail and road links on the east coast between the north and the south of Korea. President Jong Mong Hon and managing director Kim Yun Gyu of the Hyundai Asan, who are in charge of Mt. Kumgang Tourism and the construction of the Kaesong Industrial Zone, made the first experimental excursion together with over 80 persons concerned of the south side. The buses carrying them entered the area of the north side at 14:30 passing through the demilitarized zone of the military demarcation line by using the temporary road between Songhyon-ri, Kosong county of South Korean Kangwon Province, and Unjong-ri, Kosong county of the north side. This is the first event in the history of the national division.The excursionists were greeted by Ri Jong Hyok, vice-chairman of the Korean Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, and other officials concerned with compatriotic feelings.
