Japanese dietman's reckless remarks blasted
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- Nam Sung U, vice-chairman of the central standing committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon), accused dietman Tadashi Hirono from the Japanese Liberal Party of groundlessly slinging mud at the DPRK and asserting at a meeting of the House of Councillors that Chongryon is engaged in "criminal acts", according to the Jan. 27 issue of Choson Sinbo published in Japan. Nam in a statement on Jan. 23 demanding Hirono withdraw his remarks dismissed his remarks as eccentric and anachronistic as they were aimed to deliberately instil hostility and prejudice against the DPRK and Chongryon into Japanese people.He said:
Chongryon is an organization that protects the rights and interests of the Koreans in Japan and has done its best to observe the Japanese law on the principle of non-interference in its internal affairs, improve the national education and the standard of the living of the Koreans in Japan, contribute to the peaceful reunification of the country and promote friendship and exchange with the Japanese people. All this is understood and supported by them.
It is a matter of deep concern that malignant vituperation against Chongryon is still going on even after the publication of the DPRK-Japan Pyongyang Declaration. Hirono and the Japanese Government should be wholly responsible for the possible unexpected consequences to be entailed by his reckless remarks.
