Building of peaceful world called for
Pyongyang, January 28 (KCNA) -- The DPRK will establish friendly relations with those countries around the world which respect the sovereignty of the DPRK and make an active contribution to building a peaceful world in the future, too, said Choe Thae Bok, Chairman of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, addressing a meeting of the executive council of the Asian Parliamentary Association for Peace in Beijing on Jan. 25. It is an unwavering will of the DPRK to thoroughly implement the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration no matter what situation prevails on the Korean Peninsula, he noted, and went on:Independence, peace and friendship are the consistent idea of the foreign policy of the DPRK.
The DPRK will decisively beat back any enemy's invasion and firmly defend the dignity and sovereignty of the nation as long as it has the people who absolutely support the army-based policy enforced by leader Kim Jong Il, closely rallied around him.
The United States should stop at once its military pressure upon the DPRK and withdraw its forces from South Korea.
He expressed belief that the executive council of the Asian Parliamentary Association for Peace would extend support to the Korean people's struggle to prevent the danger of a war and defend peace on the Korean Peninsula true to its mission as a parliamentary body aimed to promote peace, stability and prosperity in the region.
