North Side's Delegation Returns

Pyongyang, October 27 (KCNA) -- The north side's delegation led by Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the National Reconciliation Council who is chairman of the north side's preparatory committee for the sports and cultural festival for national reunification and peace, came back to Pyongyang today after participating in the festival held on Jeju Island, south Korea.
The delegation left Jeju Island this afternoon.
It was seen off at the airport by Kim Won Ung, representative of the People's Party for Reform, and Ri Yon Thaek, chairman of the Sports Association of south Korea, who are co-chairmen of the south side's organizing committee for the festival, U Kun Min, governor of Jeju Island, and members of the organizing committee for the festival.
A spokesman for the north side's delegation made public a statement on departure at the airport.
The people in the north and the south got together at one place to successfully hold the festival the first of its kind in the history of Jeju Island, the statement said. This is a precious fruition born by the idea of "By our nation itself"
The festival further instilled national pride and self-confidence and enthusiasm for reconciliation and unity into all of us, the statement noted.
It was the basic spirit of the festival to defend peace with the unity of the Korean nation and achieve reunification by the Korean nation itself, the statement said, stressing: Through the festival the north and the south demonstrated to the whole world once again that no force can block the advance of the fellow countrymen toward peace and reunification, taking hand in hand for reconciliation and unity.
