Pyongyang, October 10 (KCNA) -- Jalaleddin Namini Mianji, Iranian ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception at his embassy on Thursday evening on the occasion of the 6th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 58th anniversary of the WPK.
The ambassador in a speech said that the WPK has played a leading role in the revolutionary struggle and construction of the Korean people for independence against imperialism under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, adding:
The Korean people are making energetic efforts to protect the independence and accelerate construction under the guidance of the WPK.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Iran and the DPRK and multifarious functions took place on this occasion.
Noting that both Iran and the DPRK are exposed to the U.S. undisguised threat and pressure, he pointed out that the solidarity between the two peoples for sovereignty and territorial integrity is growing stronger.
