All Koreans Called upon to Hold Aloft Banner of "By Our Nation Itself"
KCNA
Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- The proposition "by our nation itself" serves as an immortal idea of national independence and reunification as it clarifies that national independence is the basic idea all the Koreans should uphold and elucidates the idea of achieving national reunification independently by the concerted efforts of the nation, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article.
It goes on:
The idea of "by our nation itself" set out by leader Kim Jong Il serves as a mighty weapon as it makes it possible to overcome grave difficulties lying before the nation on its own initiative, independently find a way out and victoriously advance the cause of national reunification.
The proposition came as the strongest weapon as it ushered in the new era of national independence and reunification for the first time in the history of the country's division and helped bring about unprecedented landmark events and achievements in the efforts for national reconciliation, unity and independent reunification.
The historic June 15 joint declaration solemnly stated at home and abroad that the Korean nation responsible for the country's reunification should achieve it independently by its concerted efforts. The historic Pyongyang meeting and the adoption of the June 15 joint declaration ushered in the new era of the nation, the era of national independence and reunification, when the Korean nation is hewing the road of reconciliation, unity and reunification by its own efforts. The years since then witnessed an unprecedented turning-phase and astonishing events unimaginable in the past in the north-south relations and the movement for national reunification. All this is a shining fruition of the idea of "by our nation itself", a great proposition in the era of independent reunification.
No ordeals and difficulties are insurmountable for our nation and nothing is out of its reach only if it holds aloft the banner of "by our nation itself," the article concludes.
