Reception Given on PRC Anniversary

    Pyongyang, September 28 (KCNA) -- The Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association hosted a reception at Chongryu Restaurant last evening on the occasion of the 54th birthday of the People's Republic of China. Kim Su Hak, minister of Public Health and chairman of the Central Committee of the Korea-China Friendship Association, in his speech said that the foundation of the PRC was an appearance of the genuine people's power, first of its kind in the time-honored history of the Chinese people and a great political event of essential significance in the struggle of the Chinese people for sovereignty, independence and the building of socialism.
    Noting that China, which has turned into a dignified and powerful country, is strengthening its influence in the international arena, he expressed the belief that the Chinese people would achieve greater success in the struggle to attain the higher goal of the socialist modernization drive set forth by the 16th Congress of the Communist Party of China under the leadership of the CPC with Hu Jintao as its general secretary.
    Wu Donghe, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, in his speech said that the military parade and mammoth demonstration and other functions held on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK clearly showed the struggle of the Korean people who are building a great prosperous powerful nation in single-hearted unity, upholding the banner of Songun under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea led by its General Secretary Kim Jong Il.
    Noting that the long-standing Sino-Korean friendship provided by leaders of the old generation of the two countries is being carried forward under the deep concern of the leaders of the new generation, he expressed the belief that the flower of Sino-Korean friendship would surely bear more fruit.
