DPRK Takes on New Look under Songun Politics

    Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Socialist Korea has changed its looks day by day under leader Kim Jong Il's politics based on the great Songun idea. The Yonggwang Street extending from Pyongyang Railway Station to the Pyongyang Grand Theatre has assumed a new countenance with the 55th anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea at hand.
    The motorway has been paved again, underpasses reconstructed for convenience sake, footways covered with colored pavements, service facilities built in round, vaulted, flat, zigzag and other styles and dwelling houses face-lifted
    Over the last decade many gigantic and monumental edifices were built across the country. Among them are the Anbyon Youth Power Station, Youth Hero Motorway, Kaechon-Lake Thaesong Waterway, April 25 Hotel, Academy of Koryo Medical Science, Taedonggang Beer Factory, modern poultry farms, salterns and power stations.
    Nature-remaking projects have been carried on in an extensive way throughout the country. As a result, hundreds of thousands of hectares of land have been realigned as large standardized fields to suit the features of socialist Korea. Comprehensive mechanization of agriculture has been put on a higher stage.
    Hundreds of rural villages have made their appearance in recent years.
    Mt. Kuwol, Mt. Chilbo, Ryongmun and Songam caverns and other scenic places have turned into tourist resorts for the people.
