    Pyongyang, September 4 (KCNA) -- Meetings of workers and members of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) and agricultural working people were held on September 3 to celebrate of the 55th anniversary of the DPRK. At the celebration meeting of workers and members of the GFTUK, the reporter and speakers said they were significantly celebrating the 55th anniversary of the DPRK with the boundless honor of electing again leader Kim Jong Il to the top post of national defence in a historical period when Juche Korea was adding shine to its dignity and glory.
    Saying that the cause of building a socialist state of Juche pioneered by President Kim Il Sung was being unswervingly carried forward by Kim Jong Il, they noted the immortal exploits performed by Kim Jong Il as an outstanding leader and a resolute defender of the DPRK, which would shine in the century.
    They called on all the workers and members of the GFTUK to direct utmost efforts to increasing defence power and become patriots of the Songun era devotedly working for the prosperity of the socialist motherland, upholding Kim Jong Il's magnificent design of building a great prosperous powerful nation.
    The speakers at the celebration meeting of agricultural working people said that Kim Il Sung is the benevolent father and the great teacher who trained them all as masters of land and the country, finding himself among peasants all his life.
    The revolutionary feats performed by the President in solving the rural question will be immortal with the history of the DPRK, they said.
    They recalled that Kim Jong Il put forward a policy of agricultural revolution, setting agricultural production as the most essential matter in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation, to show the way for bringing a fundamental turn in agricultural production, and has energetically led them to highly display its vitality and validity.
    They called on the officials of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea and agricultural working people to fulfil their duty as citizens responsible for the rice production of the country by effecting a fresh surge in agricultural production.
    Present at the meetings were Kim Jung Rin, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, and officials concerned.
