Brilliant Exploits Performed by Korean Youth
KCNA
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- The young people of Korea have played a role of vanguard and performed brilliant feats in ushering in a new era and advancing the revolution.
In the 1920s, the young revolutionaries of Korea dedicated themselves without hesitation to the struggle for the liberation of the country under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung, rallied behind him.
Most of the anti-Japanese revolutionary war fighters were in their teens or twenties. They played the vanguard role in the war.
During the Fatherland Liberation War (June 1950-July 1953) a large number of young servicemen including Hero Ri Su Bok, 18, who covered the enemy's pillbox with his body, defended the country at the cost of their lives.
The Korean youth also stood in the van in the postwar rehabilitation and construction and in the socialist construction as a shock brigade and vanguard.
The young men and women have performed great exploits in the Songun era, too.
The Youth Hero Motorway, Anbyon Youth Power Station,
Hungju Youth Power Station, Youth Goat Farm in Hamhung City, Yonggwang Youth Fish Farm, August 1 Youth Saltern and other edifices were built by young people in the period of the "arduous march" and the forced march.
These years young people have distinguished themselves in national defence, economic construction, scientific research, sports and other fields for building a great prosperous power.
In those days a lot of young men and women have become heroes of the Songun era.
It is the spirit of the Korean youth to sacrifice their lives without hesitation for the leader, fatherland and people.
