Basic Foodstuff Industry Developing Rapidly in DPRK
KCNA
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- Basic foodstuff factories have been built in many areas of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. They, equipped with modern production processes, effective and precision technical facilities and computers, mass-produce various kinds of basic foodstuffs with such protein materials as beans.
It was hard to run soy factories and foodstuff factories for lack of raw materials in the period of the "arduous march" and the forced march when the country's economic situation was difficult due to the imperialists' efforts to isolate and stifle the country and continued natural disasters.
Leader Kim Jong Il worked out an ambitious plan to build modern basic foodstuff factories in Pyongyang and in all provinces though the country was still in hard time, and guided the army to set a model.
National and provincial construction offices were established and the reconstruction of factories, manufacture and assembling of equipment and face-lifting of their compounds were accelerated all together in all parts of the country.
Modern basic foodstuff factories and foodstuff factories made their appearances in Pyongyang, provincial seats, Hoeryong city, Pukchang, Sakju, Changsong and Koksan counties and other places in a short span of time.
Kim Jong Il gave field guidance to newly built basic foodstuff factories and solved problems arising in management activities including supply of raw materials and containers, improvement of the quality of basic foodstuffs and increase in the kind of products.
