International Book Exhibition Opens

Pyongyang, August 18 (KCNA) -- The 3rd Pyongyang International Scientific and Technological Book Exhibition opened at the Gymnasium of Kim Il Sung University today.
Present at the opening ceremony were Kim Yong Dae, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, Mun Jae Chol, acting chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries who is chairman of the organizing committee for the exhibition, and other officials concerned and officials in the field of publication, scientists and technicians and university teachers.
Also present there were delegations from an international organization and different countries, diplomatic envoys and staff members of various embassies here.
Mun Jae Chol in his opening speech said that holding the exhibition as an annual event is a clear proof of the expectation of humankind for science and technology and the attraction of mutual exchange and cooperation.
Valery Dikarev, head of a delegation of the Far-Eastern State University of Russia, in his congratulatory speech said that the exhibition attended by many countries would draw attention of visitors as many valuable books are displayed there.
Then the participants looked round books on display.
