Memorial Service for Late Jong Mong Hon

Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- A memorial service for the late Jong Mong Hon who was chairman of Hyundai Asan of south Korea was held at Mt. Kumgang resort on August 7.
Laid in the venue of the service were wreaths sent by different organizations and institutions such as the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, the Kumgangsan International Tourist General Company, the National Economic Cooperation Federation and the National Reconciliation Council.
Present there were officials concerned of the north side and employees of Hyundai Asan of south Korea staying at Mt. Kumgang resort.
Memorial addresses were made by vice-chairman of the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee Song Ho Gyong, president of the Kumgangsan International Tourist General Company Pang Jong Sam and vice-chairman of the National Reconciliation Council Ho Hyok Phil.
Expressing deep condolences over the death of Jong who started and developed north-south economic cooperation prompted by a patriotic desire, the speakers extended consolation and sympathy to his bereaved family.
The distinguished contribution made by him to the tour of Mt. Kumgang and the construction of the Kaesong Industrial Zone and the cooperation in other fields for the common interests and prosperity of the nation will always remain recorded in our nation's history of reunification movement, they stressed.
They vehemently denounced the right-wing conservative group including the Grand National Party of south Korea for forcing him to meet a tragic end through an unreasonable "special inspection" under the "law on special inspection" whereby they incriminated his activities for national reconciliation and cooperation.
Officials of organizations concerned including the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, the National Economic Cooperation Federation and the National Reconciliation Council visited the mourning places prepared by the side of Hyundai in Pyongyang and Mt. Kumgang to express condolences over his death.
