U.S. Urged to Remain True to AA
KCNA
Pyongyang, August 4 (KCNA) -- The United States should honestly implement the Armistice Agreement (AA) signed between the two warring parties in the 1950-1953 Korean War and stop the deployment of more troops and combat equipment and halt at once provocations against the other party.
This was demanded by seven political parties of Nepal including the Nepal Communist Party (United Marxist-Leninist), the Nepal Worker-Peasant Party and the People's Front of Nepal in a joint statement issued on July 27 on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.
The statement said:
We demand that the AA be replaced by a peace agreement between the DPRK and the U.S. in conformity with lasting peace and interests of the DPRK and the rest of the world to build a mechanism for peace on the Korean peninsula.
We hold that the Korean problem should be settled by efforts of the Korean nation in the spirit of the resolution of the 30th UN General Assembly and the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration free from interference of any outside forces.
