Inter-Korean Teachers Meet

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- A meeting of teachers in the north and the south of Korea for the implementation of the June 15 Joint Declaration and the development of national education took place at the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace on August 1.
The meeting was addressed by Kim Yong Do, vice-chairman of the central committee of the Korean Educational and Cultural Workers' Union, Jo Hui Ju, vice-chairman of the Teachers Union of South Korea and representatives of the teachers in the north and the south.
The speakers introduced achievements and experience gained by teachers in the north and south in the drive to implement the June 15 Joint Declaration after its publication.
The new generations should devote themselves to the independence, peace and reunification of the country, keeping in mind the idea of "by our nation itself" as a faith, they said, underlining the need to pool teachers' warm love for posterity under the banner of the joint declaration and make a tangible contribution to solidarity and cooperation for national cooperation.
The meeting was followed by an art performance and amusement games of inter-Korean teachers.
On the same day the members of the delegation of the teachers union of south Korea visited the Mangyongdae Schoolchildren's Palace and enjoyed an art performance given by the art circle members of the palace and toured the Tower of the Juche Idea, the Arch of Triumph and the Pyongyang Metro.
