Art show of KPA opens

    Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The 16th Art Show of the Korean People's Army opened at the April 25 House of Culture today to mark the 50th anniversary of the Korean people's victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. Presented to the show are over 270 pieces of art works created by KPA artists and servicemen.
    The exhibition hall is divided into parts of the illustrious commanders of Mt. Paektu, the great brilliant commander of the Songun policy, the Fatherland Liberation War and the Songun era. On display in the center of the hall is computer-aided picture "figure portraits of the three generals of Mt. Paektu" and, around it, there are Korean paintings, oil paintings, posters, prints, calligraphic and handicraft works, sculptures, etc.
    Among them are the oil painting "Song of General Kim Il Sung Reverberates Over Seoul", the Korean painting "Sailors in Jumunjin Remembered By the Motherland", and the oil "July 27". They represent the unique military idea of President Kim Il Sung and the heroic struggle of the army and the people of the DPRK, who performed feats in the righteous battles to annihilate the enemy.
    The exhibits also include works reflecting the conviction of sure victory and the fighting spirit of KPA servicemen determined to wipe out the aggressors from this land under the Songun leadership of Supreme Commander Kim Jong Il and thus bring about an eternal victory of July 27. Typical of them are the posters "Soldier Defends Motherland" and "Fireworks of War Victory Will Be Shot Again" and the sculpture "We Will Mercilessly Crush the Enemy".
    The opening address was made by KPA general Pak Jae Gyong.
