Inheriting spirit of defense in 1950s urged
KCNA
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The victorious history of the Korean-style socialism is a course in which the spirit of defending the country with death displayed in the 1950s has been faithfully inherited and its might fully demonstrated, declares Rodong Sinmun in an editorial today.
Calling for invariably carrying forward this spirit, it says:
It is the spirit which enabled our small country, only five years after its liberation, to defeat the ringleader of imperialism boasting of being "the strongest" in the world, a mighty spirit that brought to naught the wicked strategy and tactics of the U.S. imperialists and their largest-scale offensives ever seen.
The spirit represents the ever-victorious mettle of Korea and its confidence and fighting spirit to annihilate the enemy, the spirit of fighting the imperialists and making them pay the price of blood.
Defending the leader with death is the core of the spirit, states the editorial, and says: the Korean people should defend the headquarters of the Korean revolution headed by leader Kim Jong Il, the illustrious commander born of Mt. Paektu, at the cost of their lives.
The Korean army and people are in unshakable ideological readiness and preparedness to counter a fiercer and tougher fight than in the past fatherland liberation war. Our revolutionary ranks are the purest crystal body of idea and confidence which leaves no room for cowards and wavers and are a crack unit of human bullets and bombs. With no pressure, blockade, appeasement and psychological operations can the imperialists make a breakthrough in our revolutionary ranks of death-defying defense.
The Korean army and people will defend the socialist motherland of Juche at the cost of their lives and highly display the dignity of the DPRK under the banner of Songun of Kim Jong Il.
