Chinese Ambassador gives reception

    Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Wu Donghe, Chinese Ambassador to the DPRK, yesterday gave a reception at the embassy on the occasion of the .42nd anniversary of the Korea-China treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance. Present on invitation were Yang Hyong Sop, Vice-President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, Minister of Public Health Kim Su Hak who is chairman of the Central Committee of the DPRK-China Friendship Association, Kim Thae Jong, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Il, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kim Jin Bom, vice-chairman of the Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, and other officials concerned.
    The ambassador said at the reception that the Sino-Korean treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance signed by the leaders of the old generation of the two countries is an important treaty that reflects the will of the parties and peoples of the two countries that set store by the traditional Sino-Korean friendship.
    He said that the party, the army and the people of the DPRK single-heartedly rallied around leader Kim Jong Il are making a dynamic advance despite all difficulties, adding that the nomination of Kim Jong Il as a candidate for a deputy to the 11th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK was an expression of profound trust of all the Korean people in him.
    Yang Hyong Sop in his speech sincerely hoped that the Chinese people under the leadership of the Communist Party of China led by General Secretary Hu Jintao would achieve greater success in the efforts to attain the goal of a high stage in the socialist modernization drive put forward by the 16th Congress of the CPC.
    Noting that it is the consistent stand of the WPK and the government of the DPRK to set store by and steadily boost the DPRK-China friendship, he expressed belief that the friendship would continue to grow stronger thanks to the concern of the two leaders and the efforts of the two countries.
