Message to Kim Jong Il from Norodom Sihanouk

Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Il received a message from Cambodian King Norodom Sihanouk on July 1 on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung's demise.
The message recalled that by wisely leading the Korean people Kim Il Sung liberated the country and achieved world-startling proud and great successes in economy, social affairs, education, culture, science and technology, industry and all other fields of the country and thus turned the DPRK into an independent and progressive modern state.
It noted that the Cambodians and the king himself would always remember the most precious and warm brotherly reception, support and cordial hospitality accorded to him by the president and the multilateral and disinterested aid given by the DPRK to Cambodia in various fields.
The message expressed belief that the heroic Korean people would make new progress in the building of the country and in the cause of achieving the reunification of the Korean peninsula independently and peacefully to glorify his immortal exploits under the wise leadership of Kim Jong Il.
The message expressed conviction that the excellent ties of friendship, fraternal solidarity and multilateral cooperation between the two peoples would last forever.
