Kim Jong Il gives field guidance to stock farm

    Pyongyang, June 17 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il Tuesday gave field guidance to the Kyenam Stock Farm built by South Hwanghae Province. He was accompanied by first vice department directors Ri Yong Chol and Ri Je Gang and vice department director Mun Myong On of the Central Committee of the WPK. The farm covers more than 5,000 hectares of mountain fields in the Kyenam area of Sinwon county.
    It has several stock-breeding branches and agricultural branches.
    On the observation platform he was briefed on the farm and enjoyed a bird's-eye-view of it.
    After acquainting himself in detail with its construction and a livestock production, he noted with great satisfaction that party members and working people in the province have built such a good farm of which they can be proud.
    This proud success made by the working people in the province is a striking demonstration of our people's indomitable revolutionary spirit of braving any trials and difficulties and a clear proof of the validity and vitality of the WPK's policy on developing stock breeding on a large scale, he said.
    He familiarized himself in detail with livestock production and its processing, making rounds of barns crowded with goats, rabbits and pigs, a dairy, milk processing factory and other places.
    Noting that the farm can rapidly increase livestock production as it is located in a good place and has a large area of pasture, he underscored the need to make a sufficient use of these favorable conditions to turn it into a large-scale stock-breeding center.
    He also noted that in order to build up the farm under a long-term plan it is necessary to make several small reservoirs to create abundant water resources and undertake its expansion project in a bold and big way and, at a same time, decisively increase the number of nanny goats.
    What is most important in the stock breeding, too, is to raise animals of good stock, he said, underlining the need to implement the WPK's policy of bringing about a radical turn in raising breeding stock to the letter.
    He called for putting the livestock raising and tending on a scientific and technological basis in order to increase its production.
    He proposed a task to be fulfilled to create a reliable fodder base.
    Recalling that modern stock-breeding bases including cattle farms, goat farms and chicken farms built in various areas are now mass producing meat, eggs and milk products for the people he gave an earnest instruction to make sustained great efforts for the development of stock breeding and realize as early as possible the life-long wish of President Kim Il Sung to make a new history in which meat is provided to them.
    He expressed great expectation and belief that the officials and working people in the province would perform feats in the worthwhile drive for the progress and prosperity of the country with the same patriotic spirit and stamina with which they won a shining victory in the battle for defending socialism.
