Grand Festival for National Reunification held

Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- A Grand Festival for National Reunification was held in Pyongyang to mark the third anniversary of the historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.
An opening ceremony of the festival was held before the monument to the three charters of national reunification today.
Attending there were President of the Presidium of the Supreme People' Assembly Kim Yong Nam, chairperson of the Central Committee of the Korean Chondoist Chongu Party Ryu Mi Yong and others.
Also present were overseas compatriots staying in the socialist homeland.
Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the North Side's Preparatory Committee for the Grand Festival for National Reunification to mark the third anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration, said in his opening address that the festival is a nationwide grand festival for reunification which is simultaneously held amid the three-party solidarity of the north, south and overseas Koreans.
Expressing the belief that the festival would powerfully encourage the onward movement of all the fellow countrymen to defend sovereignty and peace and accelerate national reunification through national cooperation, he declared the festival open.
A large flag of the Korean Peninsula was hoisted.
Congratulatory messages and letters from South Korean organizations and different regions overseas were introduced at the opening ceremony.
During the festival a commemorative meeting, photo exhibition, seminar, art performance and other colorful functions were held.
A closing ceremony was held at the central youth hall on the same day.
