Anniversary of inter-Korean joint declaration observed
KCNA
Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- Today marks the third anniversary of the historic Pyongyang summit meeting and the third anniversary of the publication of the north-south joint declaration.
Rodong Sinmun in an editorial devoted to the day says:
The north-south summit meeting, the first of its kind in the history of national division, took place in the era of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the north-south joint declaration based on the spirit of "by our nation itself" was adopted.
This was a brilliant result of his will for reunification and patriotism and marked a historic event that brought about the greatest success in the movement for national reunification.
The idea of "by our nation itself" serves as an inspiring banner that aroused the desire of the Korean nation for independent reunification.
This idea also serves as a strong driving force that turned the trend of the history of the nation into one toward. Independent reunification against the U.S.
The Koreans witnessed astonishing events in the course of the struggle for the implementation of the north-south joint declaration. This was entirely ascribable to Kim Jong Il's fixed patriotic will and outstanding political ability.
Our cause of reunification can advance along the legitimate course of its development only when the Koreans invariably implement the June 15 joint declaration on which hinge the destiny and future of the nation.
All the Koreans should turn out as one in the struggle to frustrate the U.S. moves for a nuclear war and defend the destiny of the nation in a do-or-die spirit.
They should feel proud of the self-reliant war deterrent force, the shield for the nation, and unanimously support it as they have enjoyed peace and stability thanks to the army built up under the Songun policy.
Our nation, having Kim Jong Il at the helm, will certainly reunify the country under the banner of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and build an independent, prosperous and reunified power in this land.
Minju Joson in an editorial says that no force can block or reverse the dynamic march to achieve independent reunification by implementing the June 15 joint declaration to the letter by the concerted efforts of the nation.
