Anniversary of KCU marked
KCNA
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- Today marks the 57th anniversary of the Korean Children's Union (KCU).
An editorial of Rodong Sinmun today dedicated to this day says that children are the very one who would carve out the future of Songun Korea and the future of the DPRK and the prosperity of the nation entirely depend on the generations to come.
It goes on:
President Kim Il Sung founded the Saenal Children's Union, the first Juche-oriented children's union in our country, and later developed it into the anti-Japanese children's corps and the Korean Children's Union after the liberation of the country, making it possible for the Korean children to unite as one and wage a vigorous struggle under the red flag of the revolution.
Noting that the Songun era led by Kim Jong Il is a glorious era which has brought about a radical turn in strengthening and developing the movement of Korean children, the editorial sets forth tasks to be fulfilled by the KCU members to glorify the Songun cause generation after generation.
It continues:
All the KCU members should become true children's guards remaining boundlessly faithful to Kim Jong Il and uphold the slogan "Ready Always for the Respected General Kim Jong Il" as the eternal banner of the KCU.
All the KCU members should become ardent patriots and young staunch fighters who bitterly hate the class enemies and ardently love the country and the people and able workers of Songun Korea, knowledgeable, virtuous and healthy.
The editorial underscores the need for the KCU organizations to help children enjoy folk games and briskly conduct extracurricular sports activities among them so as to help all of them grow up to be a treasure of the country.
