Housing construction in DPRK
KCNA
Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- The facelifting of the Yonggwang street in the center of Pyongyang is progressing apace.
Most of the buildings of the street, which was built after the Korean war, are dwellings for workers and office employees.
The buildings are being facelifted in the exterior and interior in a modern way so as to provide the dwellers with more convenient and cultural living conditions.
The construction of the Sosan street in Kanggye, Jagang Province, and the Kunmin street in Nampho has been accelerated with the streets taking shape and a lot of apartment houses built already.
A folk street with Korean-style dwelling houses is under construction in Sariwon, North Hwanghae Province.
Great efforts have been directed to the housing construction in the DPRK where the primary attention is paid to issues concerning the people's living.
Housing construction was uninterrupted even in the period of the "arduous march" and the forced march.
Last year alone, more than 113,600 blocks of flats were built in rural communities.
Many families have moved to new houses in Chongdan county, Munchon city, the saltern on Wonsan bay and other parts of the country this year.
All the dwelling houses built at the state expense are taken by people free of charge thanks to the popular policies of the Workers' Party of Korea.
