Implementation of June 15 Joint Declaration called for

KCNA

    Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- The historic June 15 North-South Joint Declaration is a declaration of national independence and reunification and a landmark for the reunification of the country which solemnly stated at home and abroad that the issue of the country's reunification should be settled independently by the concerted efforts of the Korean nation, its master, says Rodong Sinmun today in a signed article. The article continues:
    The wonderful changes and progress in the inter-Korean relations and the national reunification movement after the publication of the June 15 Joint Declaration eloquently prove that the Korean nation has nothing impossible and may surmount any ordeals and difficulties and achieve independent reunification when it advances along the way indicated by the joint declaration.
    The idea of "by our nation itself" clarified in the joint declaration is a national banner encouraging all the fellow countrymen to achieve national unity and independent reunification as it is a great proposition in the era of national independence and reunification.
    The whole Korean nation should reject "cooperation" with the foreign forces, pool its efforts for national cooperation and give impetus to the struggle for reconciliation, cooperation and reunification.
    There can be no progressives and conservatives, class and strata in the present movement of the Korean nation itself for independent reunification and all the fellow countrymen should play their role in the joint struggle to implement the joint declaration, irrespective of differences in ideology, political view and religious belief.
    To check and frustrate the U.S. imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK and ignite a nuclear war is a life and death struggle to defend the dignity and vital right of the Korean nation and peace of the country. All the fellow countrymen should turn out in the anti-U.S. anti-war struggle for the destiny of the nation and make a resolute counter-attack on the U.S. imperialists' moves to stifle the DPRK and launch a nuclear war.
