- POWELL / NORTH KOREA VOA 29 Apr 2003 -- Secretary of State Colin Powell told Senators that North Korea's proposal for ending the crisis over its nuclear program would not lead in the right direction. But he says the overture will be studied, and that talks with North Korea and China last week in Beijing were useful.
- U-S / JAPAN / NORTH KOREA VOA 29 Apr 2003 -- President Bush spoke by telephone today (Tuesday) with the leaders of South Korea and Japan about the problem of North Korea's nuclear weapons program. A peaceful resolution of the standoff requires that kind of consultation and coordination, according to members of a Japanese defense delegation visiting Washington.
- KOREAS TALKS VOA 29 Apr 2003 -- Negotiators for North and South Korea were struggling late Tuesday to draft a statement wrapping up three days of talks in Pyongyang. The problem appeared to be references to North Korea's nuclear weapons program.
