a dramatic breakthrough for better relations with China, and we will continue to improve
friendly relations into the 21st century." |

On June 3, the Korean Central Broadcasting Station emphasized, "If U.S. imperialists start
a new war in Korea, all U.S. forces on the Korean battle lines will become ghosts
hovering about without graves, and the peace and comfort of the U.S. itself will be
threatened. The U.S. had better give up its hardline policy to crush Korea." |

On May 28, a joint conference of political parties and organizations was held at the
People's Palace of Culture to mark the first anniversary of the June 15 Joint Declaration
and the inter-Korean summit meeting in Pyongyang. The conference decided to propose
to South Korea to hold a grand symposium on national reunification attended by Koreans
inside and outside the nation on Mt. Kumkang." |

conference of political parties and organizations, which made an important proposal to
