On the diplomatic front, representatives of the North Korean and Japanese Red Cross
organizations have reached an agreement on four issues including permission of Japanese
wives of North Koreans to visit Japan and 10 million tons in food aid to North Korea, and North
Korea's foreign minister Paek Namsoon left the country for a three-country visit to China,
Laos, and Vietnam, in succession. |

The central committee of the North Korean propaganda organization the National Democratic
Front issued a twenty-point 'Words of Struggle and Announcements on the Current State of
Affairs', in connection with South Korea's sixteenth general elections, consisting of slogans to
the effect of doing away with old politics and election of what it calls 'progressive forces'. |
