Kim Jong-il was again on the inspection trail, this time to frontline military units, with Politburo
Chief Cho Myung-rok, Chief of the North Korean JCS Kim Young-choon, Defense Minister Kim
Il-chul, and other members of the top brass, to inspect preparations for combat. The
entourage also proceeded to encourage troopers involved in the construction of a power plant
and urged its speedy completion. |

Speaker of the North Korean Supreme People's Assembly Kim Young-nam, Politburo Chief
Cho Myung-rok, and other ranking members of the party, government, and the military
participated in a Grand Report Session to commemorate the second anniversary of Kim
Jong-il's installation as General Secretary of the North Korean Workers' Party. The
participants praised the leadership of Kim Jong-il and pledged absolute loyalty to the present
supreme leader. |

importation of plutonium as a preliminary attempt to become a nuclear superpower, and also
engaged in unsubstantiated accusations against South Korea, claiming that the ROK is
importing its own share of plutonium. |

North Korea mobilized the National Front and other front organizations in a propaganda blitz for
US compensation for alleged American atrocities in regions north of the DMZ during the
Korean war, following reports of wartime massacres at Nokeun-ri, urging the citizens of the
ROK and peoples around the world to call for the withdrawal of the USFK. |
