Record rainfalls in Korea and damage from typhoon Olga made headlines in the North Korean media, which encouraged implementation of safety measures by relevant social sectors.

North Korea also announced adoption of , consisting of four chapters and forty-three individual statutes for `deliberation and resolution of foreign trade disputes and protection of interests of the parties concerned'.

The Comfort Women Compensation Committee and the Trade Federation of North Korea issued letters to the prime minister and organizations in Japan, and labor unions in other countries, demanding Japanese compensation and apology for their `historical crimes'.

The North's silence concerning a soccer match between South and North Korean workers agreed upon last May, was broken by a letter from the Trade Federation delivered to the deputy chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, inviting thirty players and officials for the match to be held in Pyongyang on Aug. 10th.
