On September 24, 2025, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The foreign ministers coordinated their positions in a spirit of trust and constructive cooperation, concentrating on current aspects of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership. They underscored their mutual commitment to maintaining the intensive momentum in political dialogue between Moscow and Havana, as well as deepening collaboration in the trade and economic spheres.
A shared alignment of approaches was noted on the overwhelming majority of issues concerning the global and regional agenda. Both parties expressed aspirations to further enhance cooperation within the UN and other multilateral platforms, including BRICS.
Sergey Lavrov reaffirmed the principled stance of the Russian Federation regarding the urgent need to terminate the United States' trade, economic, and financial blockade of Cuba, as well as the removal of the country from Washington's list of "state sponsors of terrorism."
